A little like back to the good old days on the floor where we made money almost everyday. A fellow trader once reviewed to me his track record that he had not a single losing day in more than a year. And I told him I had not a single losing month in 19 years as a floor trader. Those were the days.

Fat,
19 years without a losing month!?
Technology is indeed a double-edged sword...
Outside of the markets, I've seen quite a few of my contemporaries struggle or having angst on the future as technology changes quite a lot how we used to work...
I started trading futures full time from mid 2004 with a S$200K capital. I made money 4 out of the last 10 years. I have 59 days where I lost more than S$10K and all these big daily losses add up to S$2,570,000.
Last year I had no big losses. I stop trading. I am glad I did.
This year I started trading again, with S$100K capital. Most days small losses except for 2 exceptional days where I lost a total of S$70K.
I wonder whether those good old days where we can make money most days will ever return to the futures market. If it returns, I hope I will be around to participate.
Jac
Those good old days are gone forever for the small time futures traders. That's why I am hanging up my jacket, it's not worth my time.
And yes, I am proud of that 19 years record.
if its not for the fun of trading, i would probably stop also.
with the liquidity and volatility drop to new low, i wonder is it still worth picking peanuts instead of durain where we use to.
the volume now drop as much as 70% in the stock market, not too sure about futures but i guess is the same.
fat at least you have a jacket to hang.
i'll have to hang my....
shorts and underwear!
don't look so nice haha..
Jac, that's not the way to trade, I feel painful for you. Losing 70% of your capital in 2 days shows clearly that you are a very emotional trader. There is no more thrill in trading when every trade executed is a gamble that have all the odds stake against you.
The risk is not worth taking, do something else.
